Brilliant news! Chew Lips are back! After 15 months of living in Paris and now a new record deal with Sony, a second album is finally on the way! I realise that's three exclaimation marks on three sentences but I'm finding the whole thing quite exciting. I've been a big fan since I first heard 'Salt Air' back in 2009. 'Unicorn' was a big album for me during 2010 and definitely one of my most listened to albums of that year so to finally have another album on the way and to be able to share this with more people than just those who turn up in my living room is a joy. This is now without a doubt my favourite song so far of 2012, utterly flawless electro pop. If you're the type who has house parties, or even just big gatherings, put this on and I promise you won't go wrong.

Yes, her again! Giving away free tracks in the run up to an album's release seems to be fast becoming an industry standard these days. The idea (from my point of view) being that it's better to have some of your music in a fan's music folder/on their phone then to just have it in the shops. Once it's in your music folder, you can listen to it as much or as little as you like but that familiarity with the artist is there and is often accompanied by the need to aquire more, plus you're obviously much more likely to pay attention to news of an artist if you've already got some of their music, as opposed to the millions of bands you've never heard of but who's names you're inunadated with and instantly disregard on a daily basis.
Anyway, that little rant aside, just click here. It's all very self explanitary. It feels like it's been a long time waiting for this album to come to come out, and I'm still waiting. Let this prime example of bubblegum pop tide you over. Aaaah those always cherrful chaps Space, they're still going ya know! It's taken me 10 years to realise, but I'm on the the album cover for Music for Aliens on the right hand side in the white shirt with the short hair next to a girl in a black t-shirt. I went to see them a bunch of times back in the day and they were always fantastic live. I heard they reformed for a gig in Liverpool just before Christmas so that holds hope that they might be planning on playing more or even recording. Whilst we continue to wait, here's a bunch of cool songs that they put out to appease us fans who spent our evenings huddled together on their messageboards. Ah, those seemed like much simpler times.
Click here for the goodies. With a title like, Mini Mixtape - Vol 1, you can't help but feel that there's balently mroe to come! There's also a nice little clip of a new Chew Lips track called 'Do You Chew?' which, if like me, you've been waiting years for any new music from Chew Lips, then this is very good news indeed. Here's the tracklisting: Caramba - Fedora / Kia Ora MIA - Bad Girls Chris Brown - Look At Me Now (feat. Lil Wayne & Busta Rhymes) Prince - I Would Die 4 U LV - Northern Line (feat. Joshua Idehen) Beck - Get Real paid Carlos d'Alessio - Tika Tika Walk Chew Lips - Do You Chew? Andre Jacquemin - Um Bongo, Um Bongo (They Drink It In The Congo) Andrew Bird is an american singer/songwriter who's genre has developed has he's evolved as an artist. I saw him a few years ago at The Big Chill festival (not one of my videos) and liked what I heard. Here, I'm very pleased to be in a position to offer you a track called 'Hospital' from the Norman soundtrack. It's a beautiful piece of music, please add it to you collection. Also, it's a .wav file so you'll want to run it through an mp3 converter. |
Making your music folder better, one song at a time.
_Pretty much everyday I seem to find some amazing exclusive tracks that
some awesome artists are giving away for free as a special one off
promotion. Today, it occured to me that instead of just downloading
them, maybe reposting them on facebook if they're special enough/someone I know and
then moving on, I should start a little music blog on here. Even if it
doesn't last forever, it's still a free song for you each day that it
does! I'd say the character of this blog is mostly electropop and singer/songwriter but I've got plans for mathcore, post-rock and glitch-hop. A lot of these tracks have a download limit of 100 so get in there on the quick. I'd also point out that a lot of the songs will need renaming once you've downloaded them so I'd do them one at a time. Archives
