'Inspired by the finger-picking folk musicians of this time and that Harrison Bruce takes his influences and incorporates them into his own music. Giving you that bluesy folk that is hard to find in this day and age. Harrison was born in the Midlands and grew up listening to Cash, Dylan and many more classic artists that shaped his sound.'
Harrison Bruce is a folk singer/songwriter from Worcestershire who I heard on the BBC Gloucester Introducing show and immediately thought 'Wow, I need to book this guy for the radio show!' A quick google led me to his facebook page, which in turn sent me to his bandcamp page which resulted in me writing this blog. I'll be able to say much more about him once he's been into the studio and we've recorded a session with him, but in the meantime we'll both have to make do with his biog: 'Inspired by the finger-picking folk musicians of this time and that Harrison Bruce takes his influences and incorporates them into his own music. Ruby Rae started as the side project of NYC based pop-punk band The Ex-Debutantes in 2010. Her debut release title 'Double Feature' could easily be mistaken for a night at the local drive-in when rock'n'roll still flirted with its honky-tonk roots. The songs 'It Came from the Swamp' and 'Invisible Man' showcase rockabilly inflected instrumentation paired with sinister stories of monsters, love, and guns. This is a demo track from what will hopefully be the first album, there's a Pledge page here, why not have a gander. Benji Tranter is a singer/songwriter from Hereford who lives in London. Here we have his lovely take on the Mystery Jets song 'Hand Me Down', you can hear the original by clicking here. NOTE: This download is a .wav file which is 32MB so you'll want to run it through an mp3 converter if you want to keep it. I wish musicans on SoundCloud would realise that people don't want wavs. Benji Tranter is a singer/songwriter from Hereford who lives in London and who akes some lovely music. He's recently played a bunch of festivals, started recording his first album and has released his first music video 'Wolf-Cub' which you can see by clicking here. Up for grabs today is the 'Crayons E.P.' from 2009 I love Little Boots and so should you. As much as I want a new album to follow on from the brilliant 'Hands' which had such great ElectroPop singles such as 'New in Town', 'Remedy' and 'Earthquake', Little Boots has been keeping herself busy with DJ sets and remixing tracks. Here's a mix she put together for a recent DJ set at the closing party at Space in Ibiza. It's a 52 minute slab of disco which might be a bit too much if you're indoors on your own but if you're having a bit of a gathering or a party, it's about the same length as an album so if you can't afford to get Little Boots to turn up and DJ in your living room, here's the next best thing. Pop this on your playlist and pretend she's the sound selector in the corner bopping about. Ruby Rae started as the side project of NYC based pop-punk band The Ex-Debutantes in 2010. Making your music folder better, one song at a time.
_Pretty much everyday I seem to find some amazing exclusive tracks that
some awesome artists are giving away for free as a special one off
promotion. Today, it occured to me that instead of just downloading
them, maybe reposting them on facebook if they're special enough/someone I know and
then moving on, I should start a little music blog on here. Even if it
doesn't last forever, it's still a free song for you each day that it
does! I'd say the character of this blog is mostly electropop and singer/songwriter but I've got plans for mathcore, post-rock and glitch-hop. A lot of these tracks have a download limit of 100 so get in there on the quick. I'd also point out that a lot of the songs will need renaming once you've downloaded them so I'd do them one at a time. Archives
