I have some amazing friends and am proud to be associated with:
Artists
Ricky / Studio Neck
Lifelong friend, confidant, the man responsible for talking me into moving to Worcester in the first place. He's a one man recording studio who just loves to record and help as many bands and artists as he can. He has a great website (with free downloads) which you can check out by clicking his name above. Ricky also has a metal band called Dissidence who are one of the best metal bands to come out of Worcester for a while.

Richard Clarke
Singer-songwriter, artist, illustrator, record shop owner, music and arts promoter...Rich is an all round nice guy, often in the background but playing a undeniable role in many of the events in Worcester; be it music or arts. I remember he invited me to his birthday party last year at the Art House Café when he brought together a whole bunch of unknown acts who've all gone on to great things and put on a night of free music for his friends. I remember holding hands under the table with a girl I liked while he played 'Where I Will Reside'. His music reminds me of a bitter cold winter in 2008, hot chocolate and sitting on my bedroom floor talking endless nonsense with a friend who now lives in China. Now those were the good old days...

John-Joe MurrayLongterm friend who's on this musical journey with me. There's plently about him on this site so once you're done here, free fell to have a nose around. I remember one of the house parties at the Porch in aid of Ricky's leaving do for Europe, at about 4am after quite a bit of jamming, Craigus started playing Dali and being the quick thinking devil he is, Jonj grabbed a broom (the same one he'd been drunkenly trying to brush Ricky's teeth with earlier) and started playing the wall before eventually smashing a lightbulb over Craig's head. Good times. A video of this silliness can be seen by clicking here.

Ruby Stone
Ruby is a lovely young lady from Pershore who plays with Edd Handley. I was taking the guitarist from Pysflyer to see the SohoDolls at The Scala in London and met Ruby on the train, she was going to see Antony and the Johnsons in Birmingham. We struck up a conversation, I said she had that singer-songwriter look about her and asked if she played music, she said yes, we swapped details and names of bands we should check out and went off to our seperate gigs. Got home the next day and heard her music and was amazed! You will be too.

SohoDollsMaya von Doll fronts the SohoDolls, an electro glam band who I went to see at the Valentine's Vendetta at the Camden Barfly, London, back in February and it was one of the best performances by a band that I've seen for years...and I try to get to a gig everyday!! Met Maya after the gig who was really friendly and down to earth. They've got a new album coming out soon so expect live show to be announced soon.
I highly recommend them. |
Eddie the Gun
Camilla (pictured) fronts Eddie the Gun, a half Norweigan, half London band who since starting a few years ago have found their fame in California. I can honestly say that Camilla has the most energy I've ever seen anyone have onstage. They're currently in New York doing the rock star thing but when the do hop across the pond to play a show in England you should sell your grandmother (or maybe just rent her out for the night) to be there.
Another one to watch... |
The Toxic Pijin
This noisy outfit have been terrorizing the eardrums of Worcester drinkers for years now. I've lived with them, partied with them and even spent 8 months handmaking 300 albums for them. Their music is unruley and truely something of an aquired taste though it has to be said their stage show is the stuff of local legend. These generous noise merchants regularly shower the audience of their live shows with bread, butter and on special occasions they pull out the big guns and it's potato salad time! They've got a new album to shift, so keep an eye open for upcoming shows...they're definitely not a band that you'll forget easily; or forgive.
