                                                        Muchuu

                                                        Picture
_Brother-sister duo Muchuu, have been writing and recording music since 2008. The combination of George's piano arrangements and Millie's melodies and poetic lyrics makes for beautiful, hooky, electro music with an oriental feel. The name 'Muchuu' comes from Millie's love of all things Japanese – it means to be in an ecstatic delirious trance.

Discovered by Andrew Marston on BBC Hereford & Worcester, electro duo Muchuu were the first band to use the BBC ‘Uploader’ and achieve airplay on Radio 1. Quickly picked up by Tom Robinson, Huw Stephens and Nick Grimshaw, Muchuu then had a whirlwind period of activity.

Their much acclaimed album ADVENTURE WE GO was blogged around the globe, featured in the NME, made ‘Muchuu’ Paul Lester’s ‘Band of the Day’ in the Guardian and achieved interviews, radio play, and chatter across BBC Radio. Muchuu were also chosen to play live at the BBC Introducing Christmas Party alongside Florence and the Machine. A Maida Vale session was also secured.

As proof of their originality and popularity, Muchuu were then asked to perform at Glastonbury but had to turn down the offer due to Muchuu’s commitments. But other major UK festivals soon had them on stage including Bestival, Jersey, Underage Festival, and HowTheLightGetsIn at Hay-on-Wye. Muchuu were even whisked off to perform in Norway.

With their first single release SOMEBODY TELL ME, Muchuu had commercial success with the song being used for a TV advertising campaign.

Now out is Muchuu’s second album, ON BEYOND which shows a maturing of their style and song writing ability. Fifteen beautiful, ethereal pieces crystallising their unique musical style. Once again, George’s lush piano playing is complimented perfectly by Millie’s magical vocals and thought provoking lyrical content.

This might all sound a bit over-the-top but it’s a fact that Muchuu have created a new sound that has broad appeal and is gaining wide recognition. In a music world flooded with bland corporate pop and jangling mediocrity, Muchuu are a breath of fresh air.
