This is your evening news:
This page is here to let you know about the latest updates to my site (and other goings on) to save you from having to look at each page. So each time I add more content and new features (I'm planning a gallery and downloads page) I'll list it on here.
9th August 2013
Post Y Not festival editting. Working on the 'List of Bands I've Filmed' tab. 30th July 2013 Nozstock summary and Y Not festival and Punk Heritage gig video shoots. DATE Wychwood festival 2013 YES, I did it. I made it in there and filmed everything I could!! 30th May 2013 I hate it when you're with MC Hammer and he doesn't let you touch anything. With my laptop back in safe hands and no money left, I've been sat here for weeks constantly working through all the footage and pictures that built up while it was out of action; about 70GB in total! I've been constantly uploading to my YouTube channel and slowly catching up. I've got a couple of sessions from Choice Radio and some local gig footage to go and then I'm up to date, just in time for festival season and the Wychwood festival tomorrow. 24st May 2013 Thank you for defending my right to shoot wolves from a helicopter. Update in progress. 21st May 2013 Sometimes I wish my ears would scrobble... To be updated in the morning. For now, just know that I've finally got my laptop repaired and will be working on this website and giving it a long overdue facelift when I wake up tomorrow. 1st March 2013 I'm still alive! Sorry it's been very quite on here and my gig guide has fallen behind. My laptop died a few weeks ago and I've been told it's going to cost £280 to bring it back to life. So, for me now, it's a daily date with my local library trying to do what I can to stay up to date. I'm coming in on Monday first thing in the morning and will be here sorting through the 3000 unread emails and trying to get my gig guide looking respectible again. Thank you for sticking with me, I'm still trying my best everyday. 10th February 2013 That moment of disappointment when you see you have 1 new tweet and it's the tweet you just wrote. Well it's been a while since I last updated this section (but I still work on the gig guide every day). We've had a couple of amazing back to back sessions at Choice Radio with Gloucester's Harper's Ferry and Hereford's Heed the Thunder. I'm also working full time at a restaurant six days a week which is obvious getting in the way to getting out to gigs but will allow me to (eat!) upgrade my camera and get to more festivals, book in more amazing artists from further away and all sorts of other big ideas. For now though it's all about just knuckling down and getting on with it. 12th October 2012 It's sad when you're as hungry as a wolf and you are a wolf and all of the other wolves have voted you as the worst wolf in history. Had a brief pause while my home was being rewired but now I have a nice new modern electric system here so no more power surges. 19th September 2012 I love this song too, I just have absolutely no idea how to articulate that affection via a twisted torso and flailing limbs. Well there's no radio show tonight as Dave is on holiday so I'm using this time to work on this website. 144 gigs added to the gig guide so far, a couple of new music blogs with more to come tonight. The music blogs are where I've got the furthest behind as they take the longest to write and I like to try to make them informative and worth reading. 14th September 2012 Autocorrect can kiss my ask! Had a great session at Choice Radio a couple of days ago where our guest was Colin Baggs, a great acoustic guitarist who plays at a level very rarely seen in Worcester! I'm making a section for him which you'll find hiding under the 'Projects' tab, check it out and if you're a promoter and you're looking for an act to complete your line up and you don't just want someone strumming away, then have a listen, then have a word. -- Treat me like a joke, and I'll leave you like its funny. 22nd August 2012 When i eat oreo's I like to pretend they are little U.F.0's and my mouth is a giant angry black hole... I lost the internet for a few days there but I've got it back now. 3 days offline and I've got 72 notifications, 32 messages and 3 pages of emails to get through; good thing I've got plenty of coffee. I'm currently (as well as trying to catch up with all that) attempting to map out the Worcester Music Festival in my gig guide which isn't proving as straight forward as I'd hoped, but the kettle's on... 23rd July 2012 Utter Sausage! I've just finished making an index of my music blog, which you'll find as the last tab above, or by simply clicking here. I was finding it quite difficult to navigate my way through it (on the editing side of things) and knew there was some days where I hadn't updated it and wanted a way to keep track of my blog so I could go back and backdate it but without anyone missing those updates. It's made me realise how far behind I've got with it due to festivals, tireness and a full time job (which has now ended) so as you're sat there reading this now, I can pretty much guarantee that I'm sat here with a coffee, researching synth-pop artists or the history of shoegaze/britpop for a new blog. I've got 32 drafts of blogs, it's just writing something informative that's worth your time reading. Plus there's a whole bunch of previous blog entries that really need to be fleshed out, that wasn't at the time due to issues with my housemate and the internet. I'm on the case now though. 22nd July 2012 Being lead right into a no-turning-back suicide mission that had all the potential effectiveness of throwing a sharpened spoon at Godzilla's nether regions. Hey you lot, I've just realised that it's been a month since I last put an update on this news page, but that doesn't mean I haven't been beavering away behind the scenes. I added 70 gigs to my gig listings page last night and I've been working out playlists for my YouTube channel, just for the Choice Radio sessions for now whilst I get a feel for it and try to work out if it'd be too overwhelming if I had a playlist for every gig I've filmed. I've also uploaded over a THOUSAND videos now! Woo-hoo! 107k views as well. I've only got about 2% of my video archive online as well! It takes about 2-3 hours to upload each song, which means if I don't ever turn my laptop off, I can only upload about 10 videos a day, which is about one bands set, so a typical gig with 3 days = 3 days. Festival footage obviously takes a lot lot longer but I am on it every single day (and night!). I'm currently uploading my footage from the Now We Are weekender in West Bromwich. That's going to take weeks... 22nd June 2012 Frosties are just cornflakes for people that can't face reality. Okay, so I've been going at it pretty hard for the past few days, I've added 122 gigs to the Gig Guide (I kept a tally chart) and worked on the music blog. I'm currently writing an article for SLAP magazine, reviewing the recent Wychwood festival. 20th June 2012 "9 out of 10 Polar Bear hunts end in failure." Damning statistics. #frozenplanet Sorry that there's been no updates to the gig guide or my music blog for a week or so, I've been away at the Wychwood festival and have been pretty wiped out for the past week. Plus since then, there's been loads to catch up on, I'm still working at Choice Radio, since the last update we've had Richard Clarke & the Rafters, Lumi HD and Claire Boswell and Jez King in session plus my big news is that I've finally got unlimited internet in my home!! I got back from Wychwood on Monday and the router was here waiting for me and on Tuesday it was all activated and since then I've only turned my laptop off twice! I've just been constantly uploading music videos to YouTube. I've nearly got all the sessions from the past 5 months online, to check my progress you can click here. I'm working on the music blog now and trying to get that up to date whilst keeping the music choices top notch and not just going for anything that's free. I've been adding to the gig guide through the day so if I haven't listed yours yet, rest assured I have hundreds of them on my quick links bar that I plan to add but feel to message me on facebook with an event page link and I'll get right on it. I've also made a page on here for the Choice Radio sessions but that still needs quite a bit of work so keep checking back and hopefully I'll have had some kind words to say. I also now have a facebook page, (and who can resist facebook) so if you could give me a like on there, that'd mean a lot to me and I promise not to spam you. Thank you for your patience and continuing to visit. I'm working around the clock to update loads on this site to keep it up to date, relevant and worth your time returning. Take care. 21st May 2012 Diablo III released and updates to my music blog. Ok, the most exciting and disappointing event of this year so far has happened...Diablo III has finally, after 12 years, been released! Like the excited fanboy/self confessed geek that I am, I waited outside Game Station for it to open, expecting a big queue but I was the only one there. When I openned, I handed over £40, excitedly hurried home, (took a bunch of photos of myself holding it), put the disc in my laptop and you have to download the entire game! All 15GB of it!! I've got no chance with my dongle, plus you can only play it whilst connected to the internet. Such a massive let down! On the plus side, this has meant that I've had much more time than I anticipated to work on my music blog. I hope you're liking what I've found and put up so far. over the years I've considered trying to find work as a music journalist, applying to The Fly and NME. I figured the best way to hone my writing skills would be to work on this everyday whilst sharing great music that I've got in my collection and hopefully most of it is music that after you've heard it, you'll want it yours. 7th April 2012 Now We Are festival I've got a full on weekend with the mighty Now We Are festival in West Bromwich, Free Love Club in Birmingham and Jenny Hallam's instore gig at Rise Records in Worcester. I promise to update this news section properly when I get back. 52 bands to film in 48 hours...GO! 22nd February 2012 Tina V in session and more free mp3s I've sadly had some non music related things to deal with and have fallan a little behind with my music blog. I fully plan to spend tomorrow (Thursday) getting it up to date. On a positive note, tonight Tina V is in session at Choice fm. 14th February 2012 A Valentine's Day present that keeps on giving Well it's Valentine's Day and I'm sat here in the library uploading my videos from the BBC studios to YouTube and I got a message from Charli XCX saying that she had just put up a free mp3 of her song Valentine's Day and I've been thinking about starting a music blog for a while and this seemed like the perfect time. So I've made a page on here called ' FREE Downloads' which you'll notice at the top of the page. My aim is to post a free legal digital download of an awesome song each day. I don't have internet access at home so bare with me and I'll do the best I can. 2nd February 2012 I've moved house - No internet! Gah! Sadly I've lost my beautiful home and with it my unlimited broadband connection! Pants! So until I can get the internet at the place I'm currently staying at, my access will be limited to trips to the library. However, I am planning on spending an hour or two in here each day working on the gig guide. Also, a quick reminder that Jenny Hallam's album launch party is on the horrizon, ticket's still available at just £12.50 which pays for a minibus to London, entry to the gig, the album and a minibus back home afterwards. Bargin or what?! It costs £14 just to get a return to Birmingham from Worcester and that's it. Hand under chin to you Great Western Railways. 12th January 2012 The harder you work the luckier you get That is all. 10th January 2012 Muchuu score the Number 1 slot in BBC H&W's Andrew Marston's Top 10 Tracks of 2011 Yes, that's right! A fantastic result for the Hereford based brother and sister duo. It's shaping up to be quite a promising year for Muchuu. Click here for the offical page and the see the 8th January 2012 Thistle & Thorn live session for BBC Hereford & Worcester Here's some videos that I filmed for Rebecca Leach's band 'Thistle & Thorn'. Click here for the goodies! Exciting stuff, I'm sure you'll agree. It's quite nice to see my videos with the BBC logo in the corner. 17th April 2011 Sweet llamas from the Bahamas Ok, so I've been busy planning festivals and putting together a promotional plan for the mighty Vault of Eagles. 22nd March 2011 Glitterature It's been a while since my last update on here but I promise I've been adding gigs everyday to the gig guide section which has been taking up the bulk of my online time. Hats off to Chris Bennion for his, it takes more time and effort than you'd imagine, as the hip-hop saying goes 'the game is a lot bigger than you think you know, and if you think you know, then I don't think you know.' I've added a wishlist of a few bands/singer/songwriters that I've got my eye on but haven't got on the books yet, this still needs quite a bit of work. At the time of writing this it's Vault of Eagles, Ria and Autumn Lily. All top acts definetly worth checking out (on here, for free) and even if they decide not to work with me, they deserve success so help push their plays and viewcounts up a few, it'll be time well spent. 15th January 11 I always stay ready so I don't have to get ready. I saw an awesome band last week called Vault of Eagles who I'm hoping to work with or at the very least to help them play more gigs in Worcester so it's a name that you should definetly remember. More to follow. Monday 6th December 10 I named my iPod 'Titanic' so when I enter it in iTunes it says "syncing Titanic" and I feel like a hero when I press 'Cancel". Ok, I've just been working on the gig guide section which has taken a monster amount of effort. It's been a mad time at mine with loads of drama and stress over the past few months so I've eased off of the manicness of all this for a while. I plan on doing a big overhaul once Christmas is out of the way. Hope you all have a lovely time whatever you end up doing for it and New Years as well. Saturday 23rd October 10 I hate it when people text me "K", I am rarely in the mood to talk about Potassium. FINALLY I've got the internet back after nearly 2 months without it. Thank you to the 228 vistors this site had in the last month alone. I'm back now and working on this site right now, like now. Like, whilst you're reading this I'm doing something, click F5 and something will probably change. Thursday 19th August 10 Like the fist of an angry God! Spent months working on the Gig Guide section. There's more going on (though not *that* much more) but that's my list of what I'm attending. Each gig listing links to the respective Facebook event page so if you're interested you can click and get more info. I've also had a major reshuffle of the pages and spent ages working on the Galleries for 2009 and 2010. I've literally got thousands and thousands of pictures which'll find their way onto Facebook one folder at a time but here I've uploaded some selected highlights from each month, so check it out and see if you can spot yourself. Tuesday 22nd June 10 I'm not just dressed for it, I am it! Added an about me page called 'Who is King Dave?' up the top there, and added Ruby Stone to the artists on the book section. I've also redone the Promotions page with a list of the bands and singer/songwriters that I've filmed. I've also joined Destroy It Yourself promotions as I've been at all the gigs, filmed them and helped by lending mic stands, power points and even my Les Paul to Samuel Sharp; not to mention the amount of drum kits I've had to carry back to my place. Also finally finished the 'Friends of Mine' page and spruced the gallery with some nice pictures. Wednesday 26th May 10 New live shows announced Horray! I've added a handful of upcoming gigs to the top of The Worrisome Ankletrout page. I've also added an extensive 'Diary' section detailing upcoming and past gigs in Worcester and wherever else I roam, complete with links to their respective FaceBook events. It should be noted this isn't the gospel of everything that's happening in Worcester, it's just following what I'm up to. Chris Bennion's got an awesome gig guide at www.notjustsauce.com which has a lot more gigs listed than I have. Friday 28th January 10. Witness the fitness! Hello again, cheers for sticking with me. Well Christmas has been and gone and so has my Mortal Kombat themed New Years Eve party. I haven't done much record label stuff over the past couple of months (though still as busy as ever) but I'm getting back into it now. I've listed most of the bands I've filmed on the promotions page. I've made a projects page with a few projects that I've gotten involved with recently such as the Howard James Kenny vido shoot and handmaking hundreds of copies of The Toxic Pijin's new album 'Raw and Sloppy'. I've added a comments and feedback section, though at the minute it just seems to send the comments to me in an email. I'm not going out tonight so hopefully I've have got round to changing a few things before the night is through. . Thursday 26th November 09. Update: Album release, website update, the works It's finally here! I'm pleased and proud to annouce my first release on King Dave Records. The Worrisome Ankletrout's first album 'Steep Dreams Deep Dreams' is now out and about and available to buy online on iTunes and CD Baby (with more online retailers to follow), from the Task In Hand shop in the Hop Market in Worcester and from the Sawmill/Steelmill website. The physical album price is £6 which with 17 tracks and the beautiful artwork and the effort that's gone into making it is a real bargin. If you see me or John-Joe around, we'll have copies on us that you can buy direct from us and know the money's going straight to the artist. Website wise, I'm having a big shuffle around. I've changed the front page and completed John-Joe's discography. Eventually I hope to turn a lot of the song titles into YouTube links but that'll come in time. I've written up my Spanish mission from earlier this year but there's still a lot more work to be done on the New York and Spain sections on this website but I had to prioritize John-Joe's stuff. There's plently more to come which I'm working on now. Thanks as always for taking the time to check this out and for your support. This is the internet, you could be looking at anything but you've chosen to check out this sort of thing, that says a lot about you. Don't worry, only good things. Promise. ~ King Dave Sunday 17th August 09 Massive Update: Back from the Big Chill festival, I've added the flyer for John-Joe's gig at St Swithens Church and a Discography for him since he joined my label. Made a 'Friends Of Mine' page (I'm sure some of you noticed the Adam Green reference there) which took quite a while but I'm pleased with it. Added a recommendation section with a few videos of songs and bands that I'm really into at the moment. There's also a shop page now but with only a beautiful picture of an antiques shop in Venice. There'll soon be things to buy but for now, just make the most of there being loads of cool stuff and musical top tips. Wednesday 5th August 09 Massive Update: Added this news page. Uploaded new pictures of John-Joe and added dates to his forthcoming gigs section. Created two Gallery pages, one for the friends and foes from 2008 and before, and another for the various events that I've supported so far this year. Note that this is still being worked on and I'll have more uploaded once I get back from the Big Chill festival. |
