Aaaah those always cherrful chaps Space, they're still going ya know! It's taken me 10 years to realise, but I'm on the the album cover for Music for Aliens on the right hand side in the white shirt with the short hair next to a girl in a black t-shirt. I went to see them a bunch of times back in the day and they were always fantastic live. I heard they reformed for a gig in Liverpool just before Christmas so that holds hope that they might be planning on playing more or even recording. Whilst we continue to wait, here's a bunch of cool songs that they put out to appease us fans who spent our evenings huddled together on their messageboards. Ah, those seemed like much simpler times.

_For me growing up, BritPop was my coming of age music. I was mad about Guns n' Roses, Nirvana and Iron Maiden growing up but it was around the time of BritPop that I was really finding my feet as a person. I was like 17, had long since moved out of home, had my own place and a job so money and to quote Jez from Peep Show "BritPop was just kicking off, Four Weddings had just come out, it was mmmental!" Echobelly, Sleeper and Elastica are without doubt my favourites from that time (although I loved it all - and still do!) but for me Sonya's voice and Glenn's guitar work really set them apart. Echobelly have since disbanded and now Sonya and Glenn are a two piece called 'Calm of Zero' and as a quick look at their website will show you, have released a 6 track acoustic ep, but as well as that, they now have a lovely track that was recorded on Glenn's home studio called 'Autumn Angel'. Enjoy. |
Making your music folder better, one song at a time.
_Pretty much everyday I seem to find some amazing exclusive tracks that
some awesome artists are giving away for free as a special one off
promotion. Today, it occured to me that instead of just downloading
them, maybe reposting them on facebook if they're special enough/someone I know and
then moving on, I should start a little music blog on here. Even if it
doesn't last forever, it's still a free song for you each day that it
does! I'd say the character of this blog is mostly electropop and singer/songwriter but I've got plans for mathcore, post-rock and glitch-hop. A lot of these tracks have a download limit of 100 so get in there on the quick. I'd also point out that a lot of the songs will need renaming once you've downloaded them so I'd do them one at a time. Archives
