Benji Tranter is a singer/songwriter from Hereford who lives in London and who akes some lovely music. He's recently played a bunch of festivals, started recording his first album and has released his first music video 'Wolf-Cub' which you can see by clicking here. Up for grabs today is the 'Crayons E.P.' from 2009 Benji Tranter is a folk singer/songwriter from Hereford who lives in London. Today what's on offer is a track that he describes as a christmas songs and 80's pop pastiche. It definetely makes me think of 80's christmas jumpers and Wham! Download it and when Christmas comes around this year, you can add it to your own original x-mas playlist and advoid all the overplaying cheesy christmas singles. There'll be no cars big as bars or pistols carved out of wood, just some decent singer/songwriters, that's how it's going to be going down in my house anyway. _Small Engine Repair is the alternative, americana, lofi, folk collective brain-child of Phil Twigg (Guitar, keys, Vocals), Tom Harrington (Bass, Vocals) Pedro Kirk (Guitar, Clarinet, Lapsteel, Vocals) and Dan Lewis (Drums, Vocals) In early 2009 ten tracks were recorded straight to tape in a garden shed/studio on the outskirts of Leominster in just a single day and the band then tentatively began playing live and circulating choice cuts from this session.During these first shows Small Engine Repair came to the attention of Hilldrop Records, who cherry-picked the song ‘Serve Yourself’ for inclusion on their compilation album - We Can Be Friends’ Shortly afterwards another track from these first sessions ‘Have You Seen What I’ve Become?’ sound-tracked a short-film made by the charity, UK Youth. This led to three very confused and underdressed Hereford musicians playing a star-studded charity event at St James’s Palace in early 2010 in front of the likes of Princess Anne and Pixie Lott. _ Saying Ellie Goulding's album 'Lights' provided the soundtrack to my summer in 2010 might sound as naff as saying 'naff but it's true. There was something about it that had that instant replayability factor, whether that lay in the songwriting or production or both was hard to say. What I can say with all certainty though is that this is a beautiful little gem of a rare song that I bet you haven't heard before. So download it straight away and make up for lost time. Benji Tranter is a folk singer/songwriter from Hereford who currently lives in London. What we've got there is a two track single called 'Lucky and the Spur of the Moment' from 2010. If you like what you hear here then he has several festival dates coming up so keep an eye open for him, I know for a fact that he'll be playing at Nozstock festival so maybe if you're local, you'll see him there. He's also working on recording his first album so 2012 looks set to be an interesting year for this young Hereford musician. |
Making your music folder better, one song at a time.
_Pretty much everyday I seem to find some amazing exclusive tracks that
some awesome artists are giving away for free as a special one off
promotion. Today, it occured to me that instead of just downloading
them, maybe reposting them on facebook if they're special enough/someone I know and
then moving on, I should start a little music blog on here. Even if it
doesn't last forever, it's still a free song for you each day that it
does! I'd say the character of this blog is mostly electropop and singer/songwriter but I've got plans for mathcore, post-rock and glitch-hop. A lot of these tracks have a download limit of 100 so get in there on the quick. I'd also point out that a lot of the songs will need renaming once you've downloaded them so I'd do them one at a time. Archives
