Tom Morello has joined forces with his 'brothers in arms', Serj Tankian from System of a Down and Tim McIlrath from Rise Against to create 'a huge riff-rock anthem' for the Occupy Wall Street movement to rally around. Pop your email in the box below to be sent the song for free. There's plently of features on this that a quick Google will reveal and I don't want to plagerise any of them plus it's my birthday so I'm in a bit of a hurry so that's enough information for you to be getting on with.

Ruby Rae started as the side project of NYC based pop-punk band The Ex-Debutantes in 2010. Her debut release title 'Double Feature' could easily be mistaken for a night at the local drive-in when rock'n'roll still flirted with its honky-tonk roots. The songs 'It Came from the Swamp' and 'Invisible Man' showcase rockabilly inflected instrumentation paired with sinister stories of monsters, love, and guns. This is a demo track from what will hopefully be the first album, there's a Pledge page here, why not have a gander. Sky Ferreira is an ElectroPop singer, model and actress from Los Angeles, California. She stared out on MySpace which is how she built her buzz and shortly before her 15th birthday, she caught the attention of Swedish producers Bloodshy & Avant by sending them a message through the social networking site. The producers were impressed and subsequently decided to work with her. She signed to Parlophone in July 2009 and subsequently appeared in the video for 'Pop the Glock' by Uffie and it's been non-stop for her since then. Her song 'Obessions' is featured on the Vampire Diaries soundtrack. Here's her take on Lana Del Rey's 'Blue Jeans'. Rachael Yamagata is a singer/songwriter from Arlington, Virgina. 'I'll Find A Way' is the fifth track on her 2004 debut album 'Happenstance' and is much more of a ballad than 'Starlight' which I've previously blogged about. She's worked with Jason Mraz, Toots & The Maytals, Ryan Adam & The Cardinals, Rhett Miller and Mandy Moore (each song I've conveniently linked in there) and her songs have featured on several TV shows including How I Met Your Mother, ER, Nip/Tuck, Men in Trees, Alias, One Tree Hill, Brothers & Sisters and The O.C. Anyways, that's way more than enough links, the song is below. Enjoy. Ah the wonderful AFP! Pop your email in the box below for your free mp3. It's that simple. I've got mine, everyone I know has, you'll proberly the only one who hasn't got it, but you can put that right now. School of Seven Bells are a dream pop/shoegaze band from Brooklyn, New York. They formed in 2007 and I remember seeing a flyer for one of their shows when I was out in NYC in 2008 but I didn't know who they were, I just remember thinking it was a cool name. Up until October 2010, the group consisted of identical twin sisters Alejandra and Claudia Deheza and Benjamin Curtis on guitar and electronics. That's them in the picture above, in that order. 'Windstorm' is a great example of their sound and was released as a single in 2010 to promote the 'Disconnect from Desire' album. Another fantastic song from Brooklyn based singer/songwriter Ivana XL. Oh see my broken legs? Casts on both of them It's just a token of his love, it's just a token of his love Lord Jesus hear my prayer so that I may some day walk again Have mercy on me, a miserable sinner Have mercy on me. This is a track that fif put up for free so unknown producers who wanted to write a beat for him/get their name out there could try. I think this works fine as it is, it's definitely a track that I've listened to quite a lot this week. I appreciate gangsta rap isn't everyone's cup of tea but give to a try, you might like it. I'm sure he used to say that to his customers too... I've been getting 'progressively' (see what I did there) more into shoegaze this year, as this music blog will no doubt begin to reflect over time. Here's a little bit of their bio lifyed straight from their Last.fm page. The Brian Jonestown Massacre was formed in San Francisco in 1990. The band has had over 40 members since then, but its driving force and main songwriter is Anton Newcombe. Other prominent members have included Matt Hollywood, Dean Taylor, Jeff Davies, Brian Glaze, and Joel Gion. Their sound is heavily influenced by the psychedelic sounds of the 1960s, but also carries influences from shoegaze, jangle pop, garage rock, and lo-fi sonorities. Making your music folder better, one song at a time.
_Pretty much everyday I seem to find some amazing exclusive tracks that
some awesome artists are giving away for free as a special one off
promotion. Today, it occured to me that instead of just downloading
them, maybe reposting them on facebook if they're special enough/someone I know and
then moving on, I should start a little music blog on here. Even if it
doesn't last forever, it's still a free song for you each day that it
does! I'd say the character of this blog is mostly electropop and singer/songwriter but I've got plans for mathcore, post-rock and glitch-hop. A lot of these tracks have a download limit of 100 so get in there on the quick. I'd also point out that a lot of the songs will need renaming once you've downloaded them so I'd do them one at a time. Archives
