Tom Morello has joined forces with his 'brothers in arms', Serj Tankian from System of a Down and Tim McIlrath from Rise Against to create 'a huge riff-rock anthem' for the Occupy Wall Street movement to rally around. Pop your email in the box below to be sent the song for free. There's plently of features on this that a quick Google will reveal and I don't want to plagerise any of them plus it's my birthday so I'm in a bit of a hurry so that's enough information for you to be getting on with.

Oh man, Tall Ships and 65daysofstatic working on the same track? It's 5:40 in the morning so hopefully this isn't a dream and will still be here the next time I wake up. Tall Ships are a math rock band from Cornwall who are now based in Brighton but play around these parts quite often and 65daysofstatic are an awesome band from Sheffield who've given this track the post-rock treatment. You can get this track for free via SoundCloud but there's no widget to embed, instead, you'll have to click this link and pop your email in the box to get the download link. It's all very straight forward, so no excuses.
_'By day we are Bruce, Mandy and Neil. By night we are the deadly spazz-jazz ninjas known as Super Adventure Club!' - I saw them in The Firefly back in November 2009, a couple of days after my birthday, what an absolute treat. They were utterly amazing, after their gig I brought up one of everything they had on their merch table and had a chatted with them for ages and they were all lovely people. This is definitely for fans of Frank Zappa and King Crimson. Again, click where it says SoundCloud to go to the songs page, or just click here and download this fantastic song. And you should definitely watch the video for Tommy Sheridan too. Madness. This only has 23 downloads so far, which is hopefully because most people already have it on the album, but c'mon, let's see if we can max it out. Ruby Rae started as the side project of NYC based pop-punk band The Ex-Debutantes in 2010. Her debut release title "Double Feature" could easily be mistaken for a night at the local drive-in when rock'n'roll still flirted with its honky-tonk roots. The songs 'It Came from the Swamp' and 'Invisible Man' showcase rockabilly inflected instrumentation paired with sinister stories of monsters, love, and guns. This is a demo track from what will hopefully be the first album, there's a Pledge page here, why not have a gander. She Keeps Bees are a fantastic alt. rock from Brooklyn, New York. I've only been to one of their gigs but it was fantastic. I hung out with Andy and Jess and they were lovely people. they even gave me a copy of their album 'Nests'. When I came back from New York, that and Ellis Ashbrook was all I listened to for ages. This is a picture I took of Jess at The Glasslands Gallery in Brooklyn, New York back in 2008. Look at it man. Mental. Here's a mixtape they put together, I have no idea on the tracklisting but it's a feel good mix, nice to put on while you're having a chill in the back garden. |
Making your music folder better, one song at a time.
_Pretty much everyday I seem to find some amazing exclusive tracks that
some awesome artists are giving away for free as a special one off
promotion. Today, it occured to me that instead of just downloading
them, maybe reposting them on facebook if they're special enough/someone I know and
then moving on, I should start a little music blog on here. Even if it
doesn't last forever, it's still a free song for you each day that it
does! I'd say the character of this blog is mostly electropop and singer/songwriter but I've got plans for mathcore, post-rock and glitch-hop. A lot of these tracks have a download limit of 100 so get in there on the quick. I'd also point out that a lot of the songs will need renaming once you've downloaded them so I'd do them one at a time. Archives
